What teeth are made of
Enamel and dentin contain highly mineralized calcium-phosphate structures. Calcium and phosphate are therefore fundamental to tooth composition. That does not mean consuming a calcium-phosphate ingredient directly “rebuilds” enamel in a simple dose-response way.
Saliva supplies a mineral environment
Saliva contains calcium and phosphate and helps maintain conditions that can favor remineralization after early acid challenges. When plaque acids lower pH repeatedly, demineralization can exceed repair.
Why fluoride is different from a dietary mineral claim
Fluoride used appropriately in toothpaste or professional products can strengthen enamel's resistance to acid and support remineralization. Its preventive evidence and delivery route should not be conflated with a supplement merely containing calcium or phosphate.
Dietary adequacy vs topical treatment
Calcium and vitamin D are important for skeletal health and development, while overall nutrition supports oral tissues. But once teeth erupt, cavity prevention depends heavily on local factors: plaque, sugar frequency, saliva and topical fluoride exposure.
Tricalcium phosphate appears on the ProDentim label as an Other Ingredient; that alone does not prove a remineralization effect.
